bp (before photography)
I have a master’s degree in computer science, specializing in mathematics and computer security, earned in Prague. Later, I completed an International Diploma in Consultancy and a Certificate in Business Analysis Practice from the British Computer Society in London. But photography turned out to be the real challenge I wanted—one that’s both technical and creative. It lets me work in a way that feels natural while still demanding precision and problem-solving. I approach every photoshoot with the same level of responsibility and attention to detail as I did when working on the digital security of international banks.
I’ve spent hundreds of hours learning photography—taking courses, reading, and refining my skills. I’ve invested thousands of Euros in education and equipment and continue to push my knowledge every day. Here are some of the key resources that have shaped my work.
Courses:
Visual Education: A thorough course of commercial photography skills with new lessons being added regularly, focusing on product photography and portrait photography, but covering the basics of many genres of photography. Led by an internationally recognised photographer Karl Taylor. I’ve been a member for many years.
Illuminating The Face - Lighting for Headshots and Portraits by Peter Hurley. The entire course focused on how to approach lighting faces for the best results.
Candid Photography Skills: A course of authentic portraiture led by humble and skilled Holywood photographer Greg Williams.
Photoshop Easy Course: A comprehensive course in Photoshop skills led by the famous Unmesh Dinda.
Short courses on directing non-models on posing for photography: Portrait Photography with Non-professional Models and Directing People for Portrait.
Kraus Media Academy: Product photography skills course with new lessons added continuously.
Endless list of YouTube tutorials as needed.
