Misty New Photos
I’m not sure how your Christmas holiday was, but ours was very quiet. I’m used to busy family Christmas. This year, unfortunately, despite much better situation with the virus, the restrictions were much worse than ever before. I wanted to visit my family, but we were not allowed. Well, we were, but it would mean 3 PCR tests during 7 days and almost a week of isolation. And then we wouldn’t be able to go to any sport or cultural activity without more tests. That just didn’t sound like a holiday. Aaaargh. Is this ever going to stop making me frustrated?
We ended up spending fairly lonely and actually very peaceful Christmas at home. The evening before Christmas Day, I got an idea: Let’s wake up early and take pictures! That’s an advantage of winter time - if you want to be out for sunrise, you don’t really need to wake up super early.
On Christmas morning, I woke up at 6 and headed with my camera to a beach. I really enjoyed the journey - it was very misty and everybody was home. It felt like on a different planet.
I arrived to the beach as planned, about an hour before the sunrise. It was not so surprising very dark. It always is. And I always feel scared. Silly, I know.
I walked around a bit, started to take pictures as the light started to brighten the beach. I spend two hours there, I got some pictures, but it was still so misty. All the pictures were a bit too dull. I really enjoyed the time and I had hope that on the computer later, I could make them a bit more interesting.
It was time to go home, I promised to be back for breakfast. I packed everything and started walking back. And then something amazing happened - the sun finally made it through the layers of the mist a little bit! It was magical. I threw the backpack on the ground and started frantically to put the camera, filters and tripod together. I knew that this wouldn’t last long, few minutes max. I managed to dictate a quick message about being late and blinded by the sun getting stronger by every second, I took a few pictures from the places that I already tested earlier and they proved to have a nice composition. I couldn’t really see what was on the camera display how bright the sun started to be.
Few moments later, the sun was too strong and harsh to take any more pictures. I packed everything and went home to enjoy the breakfast. I was so happy when I downloaded the photos later.
